West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has assured women in the state that their future is secure as long as she is in the government. During an administrative meeting in Medinipur, she pointed out that the recently presented budget includes an increase in financial benefits for women under the Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana, which will provide them with automatic access to Rs. 1,000 as a pension when they reach over the age of 60.

Additionally, she mentioned other measures put in place by her government to support women, including free ration under the food partner scheme, free medical treatment under Swasthya Saathi, and lifelong government assistance for mothers and sisters.

Mamata criticized the central government for depriving West Bengal of funds and support. She mentioned a Ghatal master plan that her government has been working on to prevent floods in Paschim Medinipur, but the central government has neither given its consent nor provided funding.

She also expressed frustration with the central government's withholding of funds for the 100-day employment guarantee scheme MNREGA, which requires workers to link their Aadhaar card with their account. Mamata questioned how ordinary people could do so.

Despite the challenges faced by the state, Mamata assured the people that her government is committed to serving them. She mentioned that the government has provided free ration and financial assistance to people during the pandemic, despite limited resources. Mamata also promised to continue working to improve the state's infrastructure and services and to fight for the state's rights and resources.
